Why this one divides people
Nobody signs up for anything cheerfully any more, because the road between wanting a thing and having it is now paved with checkpoints. Proving you are human is the loudest complaint - squinting at a grid of grainy photos, failing, and quietly wondering about yourself. A large group is angrier about being asked for a phone number for something that clearly does not need one. Consent pop-ups draw their own furious constituency, especially the ones where refusing takes four taps and agreeing takes one. Your answer probably depends on which one stopped you most recently.
