Why this one divides people
A shared fridge is a small society with no written laws, so grievances quietly accumulate. The person who returns a nearly empty container gets the loudest condemnation, because the betrayal is always discovered at the worst possible moment. Hoarders of ageing leftovers annoy people for a slower reason: they occupy the space everyone else needs. Unsealed containers create genuine smell problems and genuine arguments. Meanwhile the person who labels everything is either the hero holding the whole system together or an insufferable bureaucrat, depending entirely on whether you have ever lost food to somebody else.
