What's the most pointless smart gadget in a home?
There is no correct answer to this one. In Hivemind you are guessing which of these 5 answers most other people picked.
The options
- A screen on a fridge
- An app-controlled kettle
- A connected toothbrush
- A scale that tracks you
- Motorised curtains
Why this one divides people
Somewhere along the way ordinary objects started asking for a password. The fridge with a screen is the usual punchline, because nobody has ever needed a browser at eye level while holding milk. But the kettle has strong support: you still have to walk over and fill it, so the app saves roughly nine seconds and costs you a firmware update. Toothbrush data has its own defenders and its own sceptics. The split usually comes down to whether you find the gadget merely silly or actively insulting, and those are different kinds of annoyance.

In the game itself you always see a split, because a seeded baseline stands in until recorded answers outweigh it. That estimate is ours, so it is never published here as crowd data.
