Why this one divides people
Overrated is not the same as bad, which is exactly why this divides people. December carries enormous expectations and delivers a month of logistics, spending and travel for many, so it tends to lead. January gets named by everyone tired of fresh-start language attached to the coldest, darkest stretch of the year. The July vote comes from people who find peak summer too hot, too crowded and too expensive to enjoy properly. February and May pick up the contrarians. The interesting thing is that almost nobody names a month as overrated unless they once loved it, which is why the top answers are the celebrated ones.
