Why this one divides people
Menus are supposed to help, and a surprising number of them do the opposite. The complaint that unites most diners is a missing number, because nothing makes a table tense like quietly guessing what a dish will cost. A newer grievance is being asked to point a phone at the table before you are allowed to read anything at all. Beyond that, people divide between those overwhelmed by too much choice and those irritated by descriptions so flowery that the actual food disappears.
