Why this one divides people
Washing clothes is not one chore, it is four, and only one of them is genuinely awful. Putting laundry away is the usual answer, because the machine does the hard part and then hands you a warm mountain that will sit on a chair for three days. Sock pairing gets a big vote from anyone who has stared into a drawer of near-matches. Folding is tedious but at least it happens on the sofa. Hanging things to dry is a small weather-based gamble. Nobody defends ironing, but few people do enough of it to care.
