Why this one divides people
Voice notes are the most divisive format in modern messaging, because they are effortless to send and expensive to receive. Senders love them for tone and speed. Receivers have to find headphones, leave the room, and give the whole thing their attention in real time, with no way to skim. The half-minute limit is the popular compromise, long enough to explain something, short enough to survive on a bus. A sizeable group refuses the format entirely on principle. A smaller and cheerfully unbothered group sends four minutes of thinking aloud and considers that a gift.
